His words resonated in the hearts of every American
‘Change’ and ‘Hope’ became a slogan for all
Record crowds flocked to catch a glimpse
Of ‘The One’ who seemed to stand so tall.
He promised the world, which hung on every word
A race was inspired, school children sang him praise
People danced in the streets, a canvas of color
A fountain of optimism, herald of a transformational phase.
With every opportunity at hand, he failed to deliver
Instead embracing an ideology proven to fail
Expanding control, distributing our wealth
Weaving Socialism into Capitalism only the beginning of this tale.
He’s demonstrated incompetence laden with political arrogance
While using a crisis to instill submission and fear
A hand that was once extended to the meek
Now is no longer near.
We gave him our trust, he sold it away
And a generation has been left to clean up this mess
One that started with empty rhetoric and a mirage in the desert
Leaving us with a politician who failed the test.
